Over 25 Years of Rescuing Bassets
Suncoast Basset Rescue Inc is a 501c(3), not-for-profit organization, which exists solely on donations. Our volunteer effort rescues Basset Hounds from abusive, abandoned, and unwanted situations just for the love of the breed. Our organization gives bassets a second chance to live, as they were intended as someone’s best animal friend.
Our rescue efforts began in 1997 with two volunteers and help from the Suncoast Basset Hound Club of Tampa, Inc. We have rescued over 5000 bassets since then.
Where do our dogs come from?
Rescued bassets come from pounds, shelters, humane societies and are strays whose owners cannot be found, or are relinquished by owners who no longer want them. Bassets are given up for a variety of reasons. It may be due to changing lifestyles, the economy, allergies, and lack of responsibility of owners who no longer want them. At times, they are only hours from death. We do our best to prevent their passing.
